Increase User Activity
Through Missions

Gamification is a new feature in Buylink designed to increase user engagement and loyalty through weekly missions, levels, and rewards. Each level unlocks exclusive benefits, giving users clear value for their efforts and motivating them to stay active on the platform.

Challenge

Challenge

Many users found it difficult to stay engaged with Buylink over time because there were no clear rewards or progress to motivate them. As a result, activity decreased and retention dropped.

Discover

We began by identifying a key challenge: user activity was decreasing, leading to lower retention and reduced platform usage.

To understand the root cause, I conducted qualitative research, including user behavior analysis and market research.

the research focused on :

Identifying the most
popular products

Understanding core
user needs and motivations

Evaluating users’ buying power
and reward expectations

Users wanted clearer goals, visible progress, and tangible rewards that reflected their efforts and commitment.

Based on the research, we defined the core objective:

Define

Drive user engagement, retention, and transactions by creating a more interactive and habit-forming experience.

We explored multiple concepts during ideation,
including:

Achievement systems

Daily check-ins

Special deals

Among these options, gamification through missions, levels, and badges emerged as the most intuitive and scalable solution.

We validated this direction by benchmarking several platforms that successfully implemented gamification systems.

From this analysis, we defined key principles for Buylink:

From this analysis, we defined key principles for Buylink:

  • Introduce new missions every week

  • Allow missions to be completed through multiple actions or transactions

  • Reward mission completion with Buylink points

  • Set time limits for reward claims to encourage urgency

  • Offer differentiated benefits for each badge level

Success metrics were defined as increased weekly participation and improved user understanding of rewards and benefits.

Develop

Make progress visible, rewards meaningful, and participation effortless.

Using insights from research and strategy, I was able to create a user flow that is both user-friendly and effective.

We designed low-fidelity wireframes and interactive prototypes that showcased:

Weekly missions

Clear progress indicators

Badges and Benefits

To explore emotional engagement, we tested two visual concepts:

Basic Theme

Space Theme

We selected the space theme to reinforce the sense of “missions” and progression, making the experience more immersive and motivating.

Deliver

The solution was validated through usability testing and internal design reviews.
